Lokah: Dominic Arun teases endgame plan, origin stories for Dulquer's Odiyan and Tovino's Chathan

With Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra, Malayalam cinema has welcomed a new superhero universe. Dominic Arun is the force behind the blockbuster film, which is now the second-highest-grossing Malayalam film. The Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer leads the first part of the franchise, which will be followed by four more. Now, Dominic Arun has teased their endgame plan, stating that the team has every origin story for the subsequent parts.

Dominic Arun on Lokah final chapter

Dominic Arun has helmed Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra and also co-written the film with actress Santhy Balachandran. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Dominic Arun said that they have the main plot points that will happen in the upcoming films but they are yet to work on the screenplays.

“How you have seen Neeli's origin story, we have every origin story and what has happened over the past 10,000 years or something that we have laid out and we need to connect it to the present. We know how this is going to end,” explained Dominic, who made his debut directorial Tharangam in 2017.

For those of you who are yet to watch Lokah, the film follows the mysterious woman Chandra, who is later revealed to be Neeli, an infamous yakshi (vengeful spirit) from Kerala’s folklore. The film portrays how Neeli attained superpowers, even while subverting the original plot of Neeli being a malevolent spirit. Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra also had interesting cameos by Dulquer Salmaan and Tovino Thomas as Charlie the Odiyan and Michael the Chathan, who would be leading the subsequent parts. The Lokah second part is expected to portray the story of Tovino Thomas’ Chathan (a goblin).

Apart from Kalyani Priyadarshan, Lokah also features popular actor Naslen as Sunny, Chandu Salimkumar as Venu and Arun Kurian as Naijil.
