Kalamkaval release date: The upcoming Malayalam film is much-awaited as it marks actor Mammootty’s return to the big screen after being away from the limelight

Kalamkaval to release on November 27, 2025

After much speculation, Malayalam megastar Mammootty has confirmed that his upcoming Malayalam film Kalamkaval is slated to release in theatres on November 27, 2025. Jithin K Jose has directed Kalamkaval, which also features actor Vinayakan in a lead role.

Mammootty’s Kalamkaval release date

Kalamkaval is a much-awaited Malayalam film as it marks actor Mammootty’s return to the big screen after being away from the limelight for medical reasons. There have been speculations that Kalamkaval would release on November 27 but there was no official update from the team. Mammootty on October 23 took to Twitter to announce that Kalamkaval would indeed release worldwide on November 27.

The Turbo actor also shared a new poster which featured Mammootty and Vinayakan. A crowd of people and a vintage car are also seen in the poster, with red hues.

Interestingly, Mammootty made the announcement on Kalamkaval barely an hour after Mohanlal, the other big M of Malayalam cinema, promised a big update about his upcoming film Vrusshabha would be made on October 25, 2025. Vrusshabha is also set to release in November but on the sixth.

Only yesterday (October 22), Mammootty had confirmed that his upcoming thriller film had completed censor formalities and was given a U/A16+ certification by the CBFC. Apart from Mammootty and Vinayakan, Kalamkaval also features actors Gibin Gopinath, Meera Jasmine, Gayathri Arun, and Rajisha Vijayan. Mammootty will be seen in a negative role in the film, with Vinayakan set to play a cop.

Kalamkaval is Mammootty’s third release of the year after Dominic and the Ladies' Purse and Bazooka, both of which opened to mixed reviews. The films are also yet to land on streaming platforms.

On the other hand, Mammootty’s other upcoming big release is Patriot, which will also see him reuniting with Mohanlal after more than a decade. Mahesh Narayanan is helming this ambitious project, which has who’s who from the Malayalam industry in its cast.
