Mark Ruffalo recently opened up about the challenges facing the Marvel Cinematic Universe and expressed uncertainty about his future role as Hulk.

Mark Ruffalo doubts that the MCU will ever return to its former glory. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels are just two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's recent movie office bombs. With only $84 million in domestic receipts and $206 million globally, the latter picture became Marvel's lowest-grossing feature ever. In addition, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has recently ramped up its production with a deluge of Disney+ television series. Marvel Cinematic Universe launched nine series and films in 2022. According to some fans, the franchise has grown old.
In response to GQ magazine's recent question about Marvel's declining returns, Ruffalo stated that he thinks the expansion into streaming was really exciting. He went on to say that the three-year wait for a Marvel movie added to the mystery. These changes have the potential to be quite beneficial. He is not sure if it will remain unchanged.
It's impossible to guess what Ruffalo will do next in the MCU as Bruce Banner/Hulk. After the actor bungled a question and answer session, Variety has confirmed that he will not be returning in the forthcoming Marvel tentpole, Captain America: Brave New World. Regardless of his Marvel plans for the future, he told GQ that a solo Hulk film would be financially out of the question.
Ruffalo stated that he would love to do a standalone Hulk film, but he really doubts that will ever be a reality. That's why they use the Hulk sparingly—it's exceedingly expensive to shoot an entire film, as he is likely to go over budget.

Many critics also voiced their concerns over Ruffalo's decision to join the MCU. He mentioned that he'd heard a lot from my peers that dedicating a significant portion of one's acting career to Marvel might not be the most fashionable choice. The actor admitted that occasionally he believes it's a hint of envy, because afterwards he observes them fleeing the scene.
Ruffalo remarked that he is really proud of his career-defining role in many Marvel films and Oscar-nominated works like Poor Things. He has sat in theatres for the films he has worked on with major filmmakers. The actor has also seen these Marvel films in a theatre, and the level of camaraderie and personal expression moved him to tears. Ruffalo finds that meaning, and he doesn't think it's bad.
Ruffalo received an Academy Award nomination for supporting actor in Poor Things.
