Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s daughter Vismaya’s film debut announcement came as a surprise to many. Though the actor’s son Pranav Mohanlal has done a handful of films, Vismaya stayed from the limelight. Now, Mohanlal talks about his daughter’s entry into Malayalam cinema with the film Thudakkam, stating that he never wanted his children to become great actors.

Thudakkam is a recent Malayalam film announced, which is helmed by Jude Anthany Joseph and starring Mohanlal’s daughter Vismaya in the lead role. In a recent interview with News 18, Mohanlal said that it was his daughter Vismaya who first spoke about her wish to act in a film.

When asked if he was excited about his daughter's debut, Mohanlal said, "If they do well, it is good for them. That's all one can say. Otherwise, I have to really wish that my son should become a great actor or my daughter should become a great actor... I have never wished like that," remarked the veteran star, adding that he doesn't think that about himself.

Talking about how Thudakkam materialised, that Jude Anthany came up with a story which has a connection with martial arts and Vismaya is also learning the Chinese martial art Tai Chi, everyone felt it would be perfect for her.

More details about the cast and crew of Thudakkam (which means The Beginning) have not been revealed.

Mohanlal’s son Pranav made his debut in a lead role with Aadhi in 2018, which was helmed by filmmaker Jeethu Joseph, known for Drishyam films starring Mohanlal.

On the other hand, Mohanlal is currently awaiting the release of Hridayapoorvam, which is helmed by Sathyan Anthikad. The film, an Onam release, will hit theatres on August 28, 2025.
