Patriot: Art director rejects AI claims over poster, recalls Mammootty-Mohanlal's coordinated effort for risky scene

Patriot: After many netizens raised claims of the poster being AI-generated, Shajie Naduvil took to Facebook to insist that the photo was real. Mammootty and Mohanlal lead the spy thriller.

The second-look poster from the upcoming Malayalam movie Patriot, featuring Mammootty, Mohanlal and Kunchacko Boban, was released on February 26. Though fans were excited to see an update, it also led to some claims that the poster was AI-generated. Now, art director Shajie Naduvil, who is part of the Patriot team’s production design, have rejected the AI claims and also recalled veteran stars Mammootty and Mohanlal's coordinated effort to shoot the risky scene.

Was the Patriot poster AI-generated

The latest poster from Patriot featured a speeding car with Mammootty hanging off from one end, and Mohanlal standing on the sunroof, and Kunchacko Boban at the wheel. But after many netizens raised claims of the poster being AI-generated, Shajie Naduvil took to Facebook to insist that the photo was real.

He recounted that this particular scene was shot a month after Mammootty resumed work after he stayed away for medical reasons. The scene involved a speeding car, and Mammootty had to lean out from one end. With nothing else to support, Mammootty coordinated with Mohanlal to securely stay in place. He further said that this is what keeps them as stars even now.

Shajie concluded his post by stating that he put out the note after feeling hurt over AI claims, saying, “Not everything is AI friends!”.

Shortly after the second-look poster was released, the stars had also shared the actual image from the location. Despite this, AI claims were made online.

What is Patriot release date

Helmed by Mahesh Narayanan, the Patriot movie is releasing in theatres on April 23, 2026. Patriot joins other big April releases, including Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 and Tovino Thomas’ Pallichattambi. Kunchacko Boban plays the other key role in the film, which has Fahadh Faasil as the villain.

Nayanthara too joins the ensemble cast, marking her return to Malayalam cinema after a hiatus.
