The makers of Yash-starrer Toxic A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, have officially confirmed the postponement of the action thriller. What was scheduled for March 19, has been pushed to June 4. While the postponement is not new to the makers, the production banner that is backing Toxic, is also bankrolling Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, which is still in limbo over its censor issue.

While March was expected to witness the clash of two biggies; Toxic and Dhurandhar 2, the makers of the Yash starring film backed out on Wednesday. The film was scheduled to release on March 19, but has been postponed because of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. With attacks happening in countries like UAE and Saudi Arabia, the producers of Toxic have made it clear that their film will be impacted by the issue and thus chose to postpone from March 19. This leaves Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 get solo opening for Eid weekend.

But on the other hand, the Toxic producers also have another film which is facing uncertainty. Their Tamil film Jana Nayagan starring Vijay, was slated for January release. But the censor issues with CBFC, made the film loom in unclear status. While it is now certain that Jana Nayagan will release only after elections, fans were expecting the film to come sometime for Vijay’s birthday in June. But with Yash-starrer Toxic coming on June 4, it is doubtful if the makers want to lock the same month for Jana Nayagan. An official clarity and release date announcement is awaited.

What is Toxic and Jana Nayagan about?

Toxic is written and directed by Geethu Mohandas, and features Yash along with Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth among others. The action thriller which will be about a gangster drama is said to take place along the Goan coast from the 1940s to the 1970s.

Meanwhile, Jana Nayagan is directed by H Vinoth and is Vijay’s farewell film. A partial remake of Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari, Jana Nayagan was expected to serve as a political vehicle for Vijay ahead of his debut elections. However, now that the film will light of day only after polls, the status of Jana Nayagan remains in limbo. Actors Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju and others are part of the cast.
