Sandeep Reddy Vanga is certain that he has shown Ranbir Kapoor in a new light in their next film, Animal, since the actor has no limitations. Anil Kapoor and Ranbir portray a strained father-son relationship throughout the film. The story unfolds as the underworld experiences unprecedented levels of violence. The director, who is best known for the Vijay Devarakonda film Arjun Reddy and its Hindi version, Kabir Singh, starring Shahid Kapoor, has said that he enjoyed seeing Ranbir play the complete opposite of his real self in Animal.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga on Ranbir Kapoor's acting prowess

Vanga told PTI that RK is a terrific actor; he is in another category altogether and is a creative thinker. The filmmaker said that the actor reminds him of so many different performers that it would be unfair to place him in any one category. But if he had to, he said that Ranbir for him is a cross between Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Kamal Haasan; there are no boundaries for the actor.

Vanga claimed that Kapoor's performance as a musician seeking personal and creative fulfilment in the film Rockstar was his first exposure to the actor's work. He went on to say that Ranbir, like his role, never gets mad and is a really calm person. When the filmmaker was writing angry scenes, he remembers repeatedly asking him, "Ranbir, when do you get angry?" To which the actor would respond, "Look, Sandeep, this is the seventh or ninth time you've asked me this, and I don't get angry." To paraphrase, Vanga shared that he went to two Rockstar shows in one day. He told the actor how much he loved him. The director never expected to get the chance to collaborate with him. As a concept film, this is his second. The opportunity to begin working with him at such a young age is a blessing, he said. Ranbir had called Vanga and suggested they join forces after Kabir Singh. The actor had sent the filmmaker a text message after Arjun Reddy, and Vanga had not noticed his message as it was from an unknown number. When he found out that it was Ranbir, Vanga was overjoyed.

Collaboration with Bobby Deol

The filmmaker went on to reveal that Bobby Deol, whom he thinks the world of, was his first choice for the role the actor plays. He envisioned Bobby in the role from the start. In 2020 or 2021, he called the actor when he was promoting the film Class of 83. They shot a scene in which he is shirtless in Scotland at a temperature of -3 degrees. Bobby showed up and canned the shot.

Vanga has expressed his delight at the positive response to the film's trailer and his excitement at seeing how Animal will be received by audiences when it is released in theatres next month. The filmmaker is overjoyed that people seem to be enjoying the trailer. He gave more than three years to this film. When people appreciate what they have done, it's a great feeling, he said. The movie has the potential to be a huge success, as there hasn't been a story involving a father and a son in quite some time, feels Vanga.

Kumar and Krishan Kumar's T-Series, Murad Khetani's Cine1 Studios, and Pranay Reddy Vanga's Bhadrakali Pictures produced Animal, which will release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam on December 1.
