Deadpool & Wolverine teaser! Could the Ryan Reynolds-Hugh Jackman film hint at MCU's reboot in Avengers: Secret Wars?

A huge Easter egg for the upcoming Avengers film is hidden in the brand-new Deadpool & Wolverine teaser, three years before its actual premiere. One of the greatest comic book pairings, starring Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, is now set to make its grand theatrical debut. But the interdimensional mischief could have far-reaching consequences in one of the upcoming Avengers films.

Wade Wilson's birthday is the first scene in the Deadpool & Wolverine teaser, which also features Vanessa and the X-Force members who Deadpool rescued at the end of Deadpool 2 through time travel. Consequently, it appears that Wilson is now facing the repercussions of his actions, as the TVA has arrived and is planning to make the Merc with the Mouth a hero in the larger MCU. They swiftly arrest him. The Deadpool & Wolverine trailer ends with a huge spoiler for Avengers: Secret Wars, set to release in 2027.

The Secret Wars comic cover and its significance

A battered comic book cover lies on the floor next to Deadpool's, just before Wolverine's shadow appears, which is visible before Hugh Jackman's Logan catches Wade. Surprisingly, it's a storyline from Marvel Comics' Secret Wars crossover in 2015, which is supposed to be the basis for Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. Since 2008's Iron Man, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been setting up the current state, and the sixth Avengers film is expected to completely disrupt everything, potentially even rebooting the entire universe.

Secret Wars being addressed so early and in such a meta sense is both surprising and immensely thrilling. Given the established participation of the TVA in Deadpool & Wolverine, it is quite probable that the Void at the End of Time is the source of this wasteland-like place that Deadpool has encountered. This problem, wherever it came from, most certainly arose at a time when reality didn't exist.

Rescuing the MCU as "Marvel Jesus"

Given Deadpool's audacious promise that he will rescue the Marvel Cinematic Universe as "Marvel Jesus," the interdimensional aspects at work could provide an exciting buildup to Avengers: Secret Wars. Maybe it will be Deadpool and Wolverine who set in motion the chain reaction that causes several worlds to collide and a huge invasion, similar to what happened in the Secret Wars in the comics. This new Easter egg is extremely thrilling, regardless of whether Deadpool & Wolverine sets up Avengers: Secret Wars or not.
