While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has seen a very tumultuous year with 2023, the roster for 2024 reflects the measures the studio is taking to emphasize on the quality of the material they are serving to their loyal audience. The year will be kick-started for the studio by a web series streaming on Disney+, Hulu, and Disney+ Hotstar in India. Echo starring Alaqua Cox releases on January 10, 2024, and turns out some selected bunch of people have already seen a couple of episodes. Here are the first reactions to the show.

About Echo:

Starring Alaqua Cox as Maya, Echo is a spinoff to Jeremy Renner's starrer show Hawkeye and is helmed by Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie. Set in a world of violence and action, the show’s trailer has already promised a premise that is much darker than anything we have seen in the MCU so far. The first reactions are praising the show for being a slow burner and also talking about the ‘brutal’ action.

A reaction on X (formerly called Twitter) read, “Saw the first two episodes of #echo tonight and have a lot of thoughts. I think fans of Netflix’s Daredevil are going to love it. It’s like Marvel remembered it can be violent and dark. Alaqua Cox is amazing! Although I don’t love all the creative decisions though.” Another read, “Enjoyed the first two episodes of #ECHO which had an incredible (and violent) fight scene I want to watch again and again. The sound design is The brilliant Alaqua Cox continually draws me in, but I found the storytelling and pacing shaky. Excited to see the rest!”

Calling it the perfect candidate for the Marvel Spotlight banners as its first show, a netizen wrote, “#Echo - I've got to see the first 3 episodes. More mature than other #disneyplus #marvel shows, great fight scene with Daredevil. Loved Kingpin. Fab Action. Feels more like "TV'. Lower stakes, perfect for the new Spotlight brand. Can't wait to see the other episodes on Jan 10th.”

There are several such reactions. Check them out below:

Meanwhile, most recently it was speculated that the plot of Echo has Maya return to her roots and face things that she has been avoiding for a while. The show will also establish her as a main character in Charlie Cox starrer Daredevil: Born Again. Which is also a Disney+ show. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more on this and everything else from the world of streaming and entertainment.
