While he is John Wick in the John Wick franchise and the lead in The Matrix, he also has some of the best movies where he plays a maniac scientist or just a man dealing with a situation. But who could have thought that he would one day become the most viral of memes?

If you are uninitiated, John Wick star Keanu Reeves has been relevant for decades now in a very big way. He was, of course, always the charming man the paparazzi wanted to capture. One such situation was when Reeves was captured by a pap lost in his thoughts at what seemed like a bus stop, and the photo made it to the internet. What looked like a picture where he seemed very sad was soon labeled as Sad Keanu and became the most loved fodder for memes.
Over a decade later, after being the star of the Sad Keanu memes, Keanu Reeves once decided to break his silence on it, and as per Showbiz Cheatsheet, he reacted to the same. “Memes and stuff like that, I remember the first time someone showed me Sad Keanu and I was like, what is this?” Reeves said. “I was used to paparazzi photos, but I wasn’t used to a pap– I was used to tabloid communication. That was the before. Now the now is something else. For me, I was like, I was just eating a sandwich and I was in editing, I was kind of down.”
Keanu Reeves was also very fascinated by how many ways a photo can be perceived. “In order for self-preservation, I was like, you can see a picture that can tell a thousand words, but that’s always not going to be all the story to tell,” Reeves said. “But in the meme, that kind of lensing or focusing and then the way it gets shared…,” he said.
