Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, who will play Harleen Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn, will be starring in Todd Phillips's highly anticipated sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux. The filmmaker unveiled new stills from the film on Valentine's Day 2024 and wrote, "Hoping your day is full of love."
Although we don't yet know the exact narrative details, we do know that the second Joker film will be a musical drama taking place in and around Arkham Asylum. In addition to Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey, returning Joker actor Zazie Beetz is also part of the supporting cast.

After a contentious and highly publicised 2019 debut, the original Joker became the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, earning over $1 billion throughout the world. Phoenix won best actor, and the picture received 11 Oscar nominations. Since the original film was a smashing success and now features Lady Gaga, box office predictions for the next DC comic book tentpole set to release in 2024 are through the roof.
Margot Robbie, who played the role of Harley Quinn in the original live-action films like Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey, has spoken out in favour of Gaga assuming the role of the comic book character. Last month, she reaffirmed her support for Gaga.
In the same vein as there are numerous legendary male characters, Robbie expressed her desire for Harley to play a role that could be portrayed by various girls. She had always dreamed of that. A Harley is a lot of fun, and it has a lot of potential routes. One feels a sense of unease when they entrust her to another person, wondering what they will do with her and the infinite possibilities that await.
The Trenches Talk podcast stated last year that Lawrence Sher, who was Oscar-nominated for cinematography for Joker and returned to film the sequel, claimed that he "never even met" Lady Gaga on the sets because she was likely acting the entire time. According to Sher, Gaga didn't warm up to him at all until he began referring to her as "Lee" (probably as an homage to Harley).
Sher stated that he had no idea Stefani existed, refering to Stefani Germanotta, the real name of Lady Gaga. On some strange level, not even throughout the hair and makeup trials did he feel like he had met her. Maybe it was his attitude of not attempting to invade their personal space. After that, he felt like they were disconnecting for about a week.
On October 4, Warner Bros. will release Joker: Folie à Deux to cinemas.
