In less than two weeks, the much-awaited debut vehicle of Yuva Rajkumar, the younger son of Raghavendra Rajkumar, will be in theatres. The newest member of the Doddmane – Rajkumar family – to come into the world of cinema, Yuva comes with some baggage and added responsibility. The actor’s debut comes at a time when fans of his late uncle Puneeth Rajkumar continue to struggle with his absence and the void he left in Kannada cinema. Yuva, for them, is the one who will fill that void.

Speaking at the first press conference of his film, which releases on March 29, Yuva said that he is immensely thankful for all the love that’s been showered on him, but as for the question about whether he is the one to fill the void of his uncle, the actor says that it would be an impossible task. “No one can fill the void he left,” said Yuva categorically, adding, “The Kannada industry needs a new breed of heroes every now and then and I am fortunate to be a part of that.”

According to the official synopsis, Yuva is a film that takes place on an engineering college campus and follows the gang wars between students, with the protagonist standing up to fight and protect his pals. But going by the three songs that have come out so far, it appears that there’s more to the film than what the team has let on so far. Yuva confirms this, stating that the film has youthful elements, a love story, family emotions and the trailer, which will be released shortly, will give audiences a better picture of what to expect.

Yuva is paired with Sapthami Gowda, while Achyuth Kumar plays the actor’s father, a pivotal role, considering that much of the narrative also revolves around the relationship dynamic of a father and son.
