Euphoria season 2 review: A beautiful mess
HBO’s new show is a generation-defining masterpiece
The Dance Sequence That Explains Everything And Nothing In Euphoria, Giri/Haji And I’m Thinking Of Ending Things
At the centre of Sam Levinson’s teen drama Euphoria is Zendaya’s Rue Bennett, a teenager struggling with severe bouts of anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Zendaya’s character Rue stands out. It is perhaps the only thing that gives Euphoria a different flavour. Rue suffers from bipolar disorder, OCD and anxiety issues. That is a lot of things for one person to bear the burden of, let alone a teenager who is also dealing with the loss of her father.
Euphoria is a self-admittedly dark series, peppered with problems like teenage anxiety, toxic masculinity, porn, sex and drugs.
The show may be about the many things that today’s teenagers are grandly experimenting with, but it’s mainly about not finding light at the end of the tunnel.
